When he breathes like that it usually means he is up to something. This is what I found.
He is fast, strong and determined. I love this age where everything is new and exciting and you can just see the wheels spinning as he tries to figure everything out. His vocabulary grows almost daily and it just amazes me how much he really does understand. It is always a sweet moment when he slows down enough to give me a hug or a kiss or pat my tummy which he calls "seesta". Here are a few more of my favorite things he says and does these days:

He has learned how to say please almost all by himself and knows when to use it. It makes saying no a million times harder when that desperate little face says "pweez! pweez! pwee pweez!) It sounds just like pretty please.

He loves to read "bups" (books) and asks for them multiple times a day. Most of the time he wants me to read them but occasionally he does the talking which I love! He moves his head around and uses different tones in his jibber jabber language that makes it look so much like he is really reading. So funny.

Probably my favorite cute thing he does lately is when he talks about Jesus. We taught him how to say Jesus over a month ago as we walked the halls at church with him on Sundays and would show him the pictures on the walls. He recognizes him in every church picture we show him, even the kids picture like you would see in the Friend. He has a picture hanging in his bedroom which he says good night to every night. He waves and blows kisses to him. And lately whenever he sees my computer he says Jesus meaning that he wants to watch a Bible Video. We have watched this same one over and over and over. Easily over twenty times. Just in the past few days. Here is a link to it : Suffer the Little Children to Come unto Me. I really do think that little children remember their Savior. It is sweet to see that in my own baby.

Check those videos out sometime if you have not already. They are very well done. I will try to figure out how to post an embedded video here soon. It has been quite a while since I have done that and I can not remember how anymore.
Over a year has past since I last posted on this blog. And so much has happened! I am not even going to try to cover everything I have missed in a year. I makes me sad actually that I did not document Noah's first year of life better. Sure I have tons of photos saved to my computer and have written in my journal but it would have been nice to have them all in one place. I guess that is why I am back.

I have felt for some time now that I need to blog again. I feel like I need to document the history my little family is making. I want to keep my friends and extended family better up to date on how we are doing and be able to have a place where I can go and remember the cute things Noah says and does. And I feel like if I put myself out there and share things that are really important to me then maybe I can be an influence for good in someones life.

And you know what? I really do like blogging! I am excited to be back and look forward to sharing our story with you.

Note: I have made a few changes to the blog. The name has changed to "The Bomans" as well as the blog address: thebomans.blogspot.com

Dear Noah, the day of your birth, and the weeks following, are the happiest memories I have. I often find myself reflecting on those first moments with you feeling overcome with joy at being your mother. I thank Heavenly Father often for the sweet blessing he gave me on October 23rd.

Here is the story of your birth...

Your due date, October 18th, had come and gone and we were at yet another doctors appointment on the 22nd for an ultrasound. It was about 10:30 in the morning when we were told that we needed to deliver that day. (The placenta looked very "ripe", or ready to deliver, in the ultrasound.) We were told to go home and get our things together, have something to eat, and wait for a phone call from labor and delivery saying they are ready for us to come in. We were given an estimate of about 2-3 hours until they would be ready.

An induction was not how I had planned to go into this delivery. I was hoping to have an epidural free birth and I knew that would be much harder to do with a started labor. I was nervous as we drove home, even a little afraid. I was also very excited, this was the day we had been waiting for! The house was all ready to welcome home a new little member of our family, and I was ready to be a mother, but anxiety still worked its way in and I could not help but cry from all that I was feeling. I also knew that I should do my best to try to sleep until we were called in. It had been a very early morning and I knew that it would be a very long day. But sleep was not easily achieved with so much on my mind.

And so we waited. And waited. And waited. After about 4 hours I decided to call in and see how things were going. I was informed that it was a very busy day and that women kept coming in already in labor and that they needed to give them the available rooms. The told me to wait another 2 hours and then call back if I had not heard from them by then. This went on all day. We tried to make the most of it, going out to lunch (Great Harvest, yummy!) going to the store to buy a 0 candle, and taking it very easy at home. My mom came that evening to lend her help while we were in the hospital and for the first week of being home. She was so sweet to do that. I will forever be grateful for her help!

We were finally told to come in at 1 am on Tuesday the 23rd. It was so peaceful on the drive to the hospital. It seemed very surreal that we would not be returning home as a family of two anymore, but a family of three. Exhausted and still very anxious we arrived at Logan Regional Hospital, made our way to Labor and Delivery and got settled into our room. I was given some medicine to start the labor as well as a sleeping pill and was finally able to get some rest. This was going to be a long day.

My good friend is having a baby girl in November and I was invited to her baby shower this weekend. While talking to Sage about what I should give her, he suggested I try to make something. After quite a while of thinking and internet searching I came across a blog (Craftiness is not Optional) with this lovely tutorial and decided that I would give it a try. (Because I do not have a baby of my own yet to model my creations, I am borrowing CINO's pictures from her tutorial.)
They were so much fun to make! I love sewing and am not sure how much time I will have once baby boy gets here to make things like this so I was very happy to have a day I could devote to working on these. Here are the two I made:
I made my own bias tape mostly to be sure I got the color I wanted but also to save some money. It would have gone a lot faster had I just bought some but that is just fine with me. If you are interested in making your own here is a wonderful tutorial from MADE which I used to make mine. (ps. I love this blog.) These would be ten times better if I had used oil cloth instead of cotton so that you could just wipe the mess off instead of having to wash the whole bib but I was going for economical with these ones. Next time perhaps...

Now I just need to find some great boy fabric and make some for my little one!
Today marks my 39th week of pregnancy. And what a blessing these past 39 weeks have been. I am truly grateful for the gift I have been given to be able to carry this baby and very soon be his mother. Even these last few weeks with this unexpected pregnancy symptom have been a blessing because they are making me want to hold my baby outside of my belly more than ever before. And it has also given me time to reflect on the relatively easy road this whole experience has been.

I expected a lot of things coming into this pregnancy. I expected to be more hungry and tired than normal. I expected to really enjoy feeling a little person move inside of me. I expected my belly to grow and stretch more than I thought possible leaving the expected marks of such stretching behind. I expected I would nest, wanting everything in perfect order before the arrival of this tiny baby. And I expected that I would love being pregnant. (which I really do.)

However, what I did not expect with pregnancy is the almost unbearable itching that I am sure is a result of the expected stretching of my 39 weeks pregnant belly. This itching is probably worse than any mosquito bite I have ever had times 10. It is pretty close to constant and is very hard to relieve. I try not to touch it, look at it, think about it, and should probably stop blogging about it because doing so seems to be making it itch even more. But I felt that I should let my future-mother-friends out there know about this pregnancy symptom which for me was very unexpected so that they can add it to their list of expected things that may come their way when pregnant. But remember, everyone is different so you may be lucky and never have to experience the itchy belly. But if you do, also remember that it is a blessing. Because as my sweet sister once told me, if pregnancy were without difficulty we would forever want to remain pregnant. Instead we get to dream about the day when our little one is wrapped up in our arms and not in our bellies.

(So please come out soon little boy.)
I was looking through some old pictures on our computer the other day and had to laugh at some of the earlier pregnancy pictures I had taken thinking that my belly was so big and finally showing when it was just a little bump. There is not hiding it now. (This was one of those rare days when I actually wore real clothes. Believe me that those pants were quickly changed once my errands were over.)

As much as I am ready for this baby to be in my arms and not in my belly, I really have enjoyed being pregnant. It has been very easy compared to what so many other women have to go through which I am very grateful for. I still get excited when I feel this little guy wiggle inside of me. Even when his little feet find the most uncomfortable spot to wedge themselves into, it makes me happy thinking that he is in there and doing well. I sure do love this little baby of mine.

ps. Today marks week 37. That leaves only 3 more weeks until the due date. Which means that if baby boy were born today, he would not be considered premature. What a relief. I do not feel bad now wishing that he would come soon. But I will keep being patient because as my sister said, the world is a scary place and he can just stay inside his safe little corner until he is ready to come out.
Today is one month away from this baby's due date. Will he be here in one month? Who knows. But I do know that this belly is feeling quite big today. This shirt, along with most things I wear around the house these days, belongs to Sage. And even they are becoming too short. Oh well. This is not a permanent part of my body. (Or so I hope...) I am just glad that I have a belly at all. That is, a belly full of baby.

I was watching a woman at church a couple weeks ago who was very much ready to have her baby. She looked exhausted, warm, and uncomfortable. As I sat watching her I felt a peace come over me that this is all worth it. I wanted to hold her by the shoulders and remind her that, but I didn't because I didn't want to interrupt the lesson. Then I realized that I need to remember that just as much as she does. Sometimes I find myself complaining about how uncomfortable I am feeling or just wishing that he was out instead of in. But this is such a great blessing and I need to treat it more like that.

This baby is going to be here before we know it. I need to really enjoy these last few weeks of being pregnant because I will never have this time back. Once he is here it will never be just me again. Even if I have some time to myself, I will still be a mother and that is how it is going to be for the rest of eternity. I am completely fine with that but I also need to remember to enjoy these last few weeks of me time.

So if you will excuse me, I am going to go do just that. Have a great day everyone!
This picture has nothing to do with today's post. I just felt like sharing it. This was taken on the 4th of July
at some beautiful lake which I can not remember the name of. It was such a fun day.

Now that I think of it, this picture does have some relationship to today's post because it was taken on Bridger's last day before he left for his mission
and today Ryley is coming home from his. We are so excited to see him! It is so
crazy that 2 years has already come and gone. When he left, he did not have any sisters, now he has two! And he has two nephews on the way! Quite the 2 years for the Boman family. We love you Bridger and Ryley!

ps. Don't I have the most adorable husband in the world? I love him. :) Emmahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12651145048816980108noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6970474897920733897.post-63890203097716051452012-09-06T10:52:00.000-06:002012-09-06T10:52:30.988-06:00September.... My windows are open and the cool fresh breeze of this beautiful September morning makes me quite content. I love experiencing the change of seasons. It is something I always look forward to. And this change is my very favorite. The weather between summer and autumn is perfect. The colors are beautiful. And the flavors and smells of autumn food are some of my favorites. And this autumn is bringing me a baby which makes me most excited.

Cool weather makes me want to snuggle up with some hot chocolate, a warm blanket, and a good book. It makes me want to bake sweet desserts with cinnamon, pumpkin, and fresh apples. It makes me want to stay indoors and work on a craft, or decorate with leaves and acorns. But the cool weather this autumn mostly just makes me want to hold my baby boy and love him to pieces. Ya, I am pretty content with that thought right now.

Thank you September morning. Emmahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12651145048816980108noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6970474897920733897.post-27497396204101424902012-09-05T13:11:00.000-06:002012-09-05T13:11:50.287-06:00The Best Job...When I was in high school I had the best job ever. I worked at an adorable local children's bookstore. It was the perfect job for a girl who loved kids and loved to read. I could sample any book in the store that I wanted, as long as customers were not in the store needing help. I set up creative book displays and read to a group of preschoolers on occasion. The people I worked with were wonderful and I enjoyed our long talks about books, education, and life. I loved going to work.

As high school came to a close and I prepared to move away for college, I wondered how I would ever find a better job. And then I did. For a year and a half while going to college I was a nanny to a darling baby girl. She was only a few months old when I began watching her. When she was little I let her take long naps on my chest and I helped her learn to crawl. As she got older we spent lots of afternoons playing at the park. We were very good friends. I loved her and she loved me. Work was not really work at all. I thought I had the best job ever.

Then I found out that our little boy was on his way and I knew that I would not be able to nanny once he came. So I began looking for another job to keep me busy during the summer while I waited for him to arrive. I began substituting at the child care center/preschool that this little girl I tended would be going to as well. Substituting soon transitioned into a permanent schedule and I was loving it. The center is divided into 3 different classrooms; the Infant and Toddler classroom (ages 6 weeks to 2 years), the Junior Preschool (2-3 1/2) and the Senior Preschool (3 1/2- 5). I got to work in the Junior Preschool, which in my opinion is the best classroom they have. Work was more play that it was work. I loved my job and would have been happy to stay there forever, if it were not for this next job that I am going to take.

Being a mother has always been my number one choice for a job. I love children, I love to play, and I love being loved. As this baby boy grows inside of me I cannot help but wonder what life is really going to be like when he is here. I am trying to be as prepared as I can for motherhood but I am sure that I will just have to take things as they come. It will be challenging at times but I have no doubt that this will be the best job I ever have.
Sage and I took a trip to Brigham City this past Saturday to attend the temple open house with my parents and little sister. (reservations can be made here) It was a beautiful rainy day and the temple was gorgeous. After the tour we took my family to a local fruit stand. Which brings me to the title of this post. They were selling slightly bruised peaches for $2 a basket. That is a lot of peaches for only $2. So we bought them thinking they would be so yummy in jam. Which means that we needed to buy pectin, lots of sugar, and jars for the jam. (remind you of a children's story?) And then we stayed up all night making jam. Sage washed, cut, and measured the peaches while I added the sugar, pectin, and filled tons of jars with jam. We ran out of regular jars after only 2 batches and still had plenty to go. So we used random tupperwear and even a cottage cheese container for the rest. We stopped after 4 batches but could have easily made one more. (we just did not have enough pectin or containers) That made about 30 cups of jam.

It was a late night but it would have been even later if Sage was not there helping. It was a nice little date.

And we found some darling apples which we also bought.
Seeing that familiar place and watching familiar faces go inside I again felt so strange that I was not the one being dropped off for a day of classes. When Sage and I got married we both knew that we did not want to put off having children. I was about halfway through with my degree and loving school but I knew this is what we needed to do. But as I drove home this morning I needed some reassurance that this is what Heavenly Father wants me to do. This video gave me the reminder I needed that things will work out and that I am doing what I need to be doing right now. That it, to be a mother.
It is so crazy
how quickly time goes by. This summer has gone by especially fast. I can
hardly believe that it is time again for school. It was a strange
feeling watching all of those students walking to their first day of
classes and not being a part of them anymore. I have chosen to not try
to go to school and be a mother at the same time, at least for now. I
know that this is what I am supposed to do though. Sage and I have
always felt that I should be the one to mother our children and that
staying home should be my first priority. School was great and I loved
that time of my life but now I am entering into another great time in my
life and I am sure I will love it even more.

Speaking of time going by fast, baby boy will be here in less that two months! That is less that two months left of preparation time. I need to get to work!

Here is a beautiful music video to leave you with.
Have a great day everyone! Which means the 10 week countdown has begun. It is so crazy how fast this pregnancy has gone. I remember being only 10 weeks along and feeling like it would take forever to get to where I am today. And before I know it, our little boy will be here!

My head has been buzzing trying to think of everything that needs to get done before he comes. We are hopefully picking up a car seat this weekend which will be a huge check off of the list.

Monday we start our 6 week birthing class at the hospital which will be nice. Still so crazy to think that we are already at that point of the pregnancy.

And today I am trying to get rid of a head cold I picked up a few days ago. As much as it stinks being sick, it is kind of nice having some forced down time.

Well, that is all for today. Have a great one!Emmahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12651145048816980108noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6970474897920733897.post-35333678661711274102012-08-03T19:58:00.002-06:002012-08-03T19:58:31.552-06:00UpdateWell, it seems that I had forgotten I have a blog. So here is a quick update.

June: We celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary with a lunch at teh Blue Bird and a boating trip with family.

July: Sister was sealed to her husband! And brother-in-law left for his mission to Bolivia.

August: Baby is very active and makes me shake at times from his powerful kicks. Sage is nearing the end of summer classes (yahoo!) and I we are very much in nesting mode.

Well there you have it.

ps. This is my new favorite song. Enjoy!

Today is a recipe day. This is my favorite lasagna recipe that my mom made often growing up. Hope you enjoy!

Lasagna (Karen-Mom version)

Prep time: 45 min.
Bake time: 30 min.
Serves: 8

Ingredients:
- lasagna noodles
- 1 can (26.5 oz.) spaghetti sauce
- 1 large container cottage cheese
- 6 oz. shredded mozarella cheese
- Parmesan cheese

Preheat oven: 375 degrees F. Cook lasagna per package directions. Drain. In a 9'x13' baking pan, layer lasagna noodles, cottage cheese, mozzarella cheese and spaghetti sauce. Make 2 layers. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top. Bake 30 min. Let stand 10 min before serving.

Note: This is also delicious with cooked ground beef added to the sauce. Makes it a little heartier.

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

ps. Doctors visit tomorrow afternoon to take a peek and that little bump there. Boy or girl? We shall see! Last chance to make a guess!

Sweet Grandpa Boman brought me this darling rose from his flower bed this weekend. He is such a great grandpa, always saying nice things and giving me hugs. He loves me like I was born into the family. I have the rose in some water on my desk and I love smelling it as I walk by.

My darling husband also did a very nice thing for me this weekend. It was very out of the blue and such a surprise. For those of you who do not know of Stephanie Nielson, she is my hero. She has a great blog and an amazing story. She is a great example to me of having hope and never giving up. I admire the wife and mother that she is and the person that she has become from the experiences she has gone through. If you do not know of her, start with this video.

Then check out her blog, and then read her book. Which brings me to the big surprise. Sage bought me her book! It is wonderful. There is a digital preview of the first few chapters on the right hand side of her blog.
I felt the first big wiggle on May 4th, in my Nanny's kitchen. (Nanny is my grandma.) It was so exciting! It was less of a thump and more of a roll/rub. Ever since then I have felt all sorts of movements from this little baby of mine. It makes this pregnancy thing seem so much more real and makes me so much more excited to meet this little wiggler. I love to imagine what he/she is going to look like and what their personality will be. We go to the doctor again on May 30th to find out if baby is a he or a she and I can not wait. If you would like to make a guess, leave a comment!
ps. I love my baby SO MUCH if you had not already guessed. Emmahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12651145048816980108noreply@blogger.com3
